How the Strixhaven College Quiz works
This is a transparent look at what the quiz measures, how its scoring is calculated, and why the result is best treated as a playful prompt for self-reflection.
The quiz method in four steps
1. Answer 20 scenario questions
Each question offers four choices. They are written around broad preferences—such as research, expression, pattern-finding, language, or renewal—rather than factual trivia.
2. Add weighted signals
An answer contributes one or two points to the college or colleges it most closely reflects. Some choices intentionally split their weight because a real preference can point to more than one college.
3. Identify the leading score
At the end, the quiz totals all answer weights. The college with the highest score becomes the displayed result.
4. Handle close matches consistently
If two or more colleges tie, the quiz first compares how many two-point answers each received. If the tie remains, it selects among the tied colleges. Retaking the quiz can therefore produce a different result only in a final unresolved tie.
What the result means—and what it does not
The quiz is designed around five fictional academic themes. A Lorehold result may resonate with curiosity about history and evidence; Prismari with creative expression; Quandrix with patterns and systems; Silverquill with rhetoric and presence; and Witherbloom with cycles, stewardship, and practical care. These are interpretive themes, not scientific constructs.
Because real people contain contradictions, a close score is meaningful. It may indicate that two styles both matter to you, that a situation changes how you respond, or simply that several answers fit equally well. For that reason, the college guides include reflection prompts instead of making claims about your intelligence, health, relationships, career, or identity.
Design principles
- Interpretability
- Every displayed result links to a guide that explains its themes and offers concrete prompts for independent reflection.
- No account required
- You can take the quiz without creating an account. Your quiz responses are calculated in your browser rather than being submitted as a profile.
- No clinical claims
- The result is entertainment. It is not a psychological test and should not be used to make health, hiring, education, or relationship decisions.
- Source-aware lore
- Setting facts are checked against official Wizards of the Coast material; our explanations and exercises are original fan commentary.
